Gr. 6 Science - First Nation's Perspective on plants, etc.

We learned today that plants have special significance to FN/Metis peoples as they used their place-based knowledge about plants for survival. Also, we learned today that Cree Elder Judy Bear feels that humans have created many problems for Mother Earth, and that human beings are the only living things that could be removed from the planet that would actually benefit Mother Earth. Something to consider.................

5 Drama

We are currently learning a play for the Christmas Season- Santa and the Mafiosa Mammas. There are enough roles for 20 students. Some students are designing the set and costumes while two students are directing the play.

I would like to rehearse using costumes. Therefore, I am asking students to bring costumes to school for our dress rehearsals. Please help your child find or make a simple costume:

police officers: white shirt, dark pants, police-looking vests, badges, etc.
Mafiosa Mammas: dresses, wigs, old purses, etc.
Mayor/Deputy Mayor: business suits/tie, briefcase, etc.
Mafia/gangsters: suits, ties, fedoras, etc.
elves: elf hat/santa toque, elf shoes, sweat pants, etc.

Thank you for your assistance!

We are presently learning about how to read Food Labels on products.

Gr. 6 Science Diversity of Life Unit - Organism Project Due

Students are learning about the vast Diversity of Life on our planet. The Diversity of Life Research Project was due on Monday, October 30. Presentations began on that day. As organisms especially animals are very popular to research, most students created a powerpoint to effectively present their findings.
